Rabeprazole

Rabeprazole
is a proton pump inhibitor that suppresses
acid production in the cells of the stomach
lining. It is used for the healing of erosive
gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), maintenance
of healed erosive GERD, healing of duodenal
ulcers and treatment of pathological hypersecretory
conditions, including Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
It is also approved for treatment of daytime
and nighttime heartburn and other symptoms
associated with GERD. Rabeprazole is also
used along with antibiotics to eradicate H.
pylori infections (believed to be responsible
for the majority of peptic ulcers). |
