Clomid (Clomiphene Citrate) is contraindicated in pregnant women and in those with undiagnosed abnormal genital bleeding, ovarian cyst not related to polycystic ovarian syndrome, hepatic disease or dysfunction, uncontrolled thyroid or adrenal dysfunction, or organic intracranial lesion (such as pituitary tumor).

Clomid adverse reactions and side effects : |

Clomid side effects and adverse reactions can be : headache, restlessness, insomnia, dizziness, light-headedness, depression, fatigue, blurred vision, diplopia, scotoma, photophobia, nausea, vomiting, bloating, distention, ovarian enlargement, urinary frequency and polyuria, abnormal uterine bleeding, ovarian cyst that regresses spontaneously when Clomid is stopped, weight gain, reversible alopecia, urticaria, rash, dermatitis, hot flashes, breast discomfort.

Clomid dosage : |
- Oral administration (adults) : 50 mg of Clomid for 5 days, starting on day 5 of menstrual cycle (first day of menstrual flow is day 1) if bleeding occurs, or at any time if you hadn't recent uterine bleeding.If ovulation doesn't occur, you may increase dose to 100 mg of Clomid daily for 5 days as soon as 30 days after previous course.Repeat until conception occurs or until three courses of Clomid therapy are completed.

How to administer Clomid : |
- Administer Clomid (Clomiphene Citrate) at the same time daily to maintain drug level.
- Administer Clomid after discontinuing estrogen therapy.

If a dose of Clomid is missed, double it next time; if more than one dose is missed call your prescriber right away.

Take and chart basal body temperature to ascertain if ovulation has occured.

Ovulation, typically, occurs after first course of Clomid (Clomiphene Citrate) therapy.If pregnancy doesn't occur, you may repeat therapy twice.

Stop Clomid and contact your prescriber immediately if pregnancy is suspected because Clomid may have teratogenic effect.

Stop Clomid and contact prescriber immediately if abdominal symptoms or pain occur because these symptoms may indicate ovarian enlargement or ovarian cyst.Also you should notify prescriber if signs and symptoms of impending visual toxicity occur, such as blurred vision, double vision, vision defect in one part of the eye (scotoma) or sensitivity to the sun.

Avoid hazardous activities, such as driving or operating machinery, until central nervous system effects are known.Clomid may cause dizziness and visual disturbances.
