Flonase contraindications and precautions : |

Flonase is contraindicated in : some products contain flurocarbon propellants (CFC), alcohol, propylene, or polyethylene glycol and should be avoided in persons with known hypersensitivity or intolerance.

Use Flonase cautiously in : active untreated infections, persons with diabetes or glaucoma, persons with underlying immunosuppression (due to disease or concurrent therapy), systemic corticosteriod therapy (should not be abruptly discontinued when intranasal therapy is started), recent nasal trauma or surgery (wound healing may be impaired by nasal corticosteroids), pregnancy or lactation (safety not established yet; prolonged or high-dose therapy may lead to complications).

Flonase adverse reactions and side effects : |

Flonase adverse reactions and side effects can be : headache, dizziness, fever, migraine, nervousness, blood in nasal mucus, cataracts, dry eye, eye irritation, rhinitis, sinusitis, abdominal discomfort, oral candidiasis, diarrhea, mouth irritation, nausea, viral gastroenteritis, vomiting, upper respiratory tract infection, urticaria, dermatitis, viral infections.

Flonase dosage : |
- Intranasal (adults) : 2 sprays in each nostril once daily or 1 spray in each nostril twice daily after several days; decrease to 1 spray in each nostril once daily (50 mcg/metered spray; don't exceed 4 metered sprays in one day).
- Intranasal (children bigger than 4 years and adolescents) : 1 Flonase spray in each nostrile once daily (50 mcg/metered spray); don't exceed 200 mcg/day total dose.

How to administer Flonase : |

After the desired clinical effect has been obtained, attempts should be made to decrease dose to lowest amount.Gradually decrease dose every 2-4 weeks as long as desired effect is maintained.If symptoms return, dose may briefly return to starting dose.

Intranasal : Persons also using a topical decongestant should take decongestant 5-15 minutes before corticosteroid nasal spray.If you're unable to breathe freely through nasal passages, blow nose gently in advance of medication administration.

Take Flonase as directed.If a dose is missed, take as soon as remembered unless almost time for next dose.

Don't exceed maximal daily dose of 4 sprays/nostril.

Most nasal spray include directions with pictures.Read patient informations sheet prior to use.Shake Flonase well before use.Temporary nasal stinging may occur.

Store canister with valve downward.Canister should not be stored in cold areas or in high humidity and should be used within 6 months of opening aluminum pouch.

Notfiy health care professional if symptoms do not improve within 1 month or if nasal discharge becomes purulent.

Clear nasal passages before use.

Follow manufacturer's recommendations for use and cleaning.

Avoid smoking, smoke-filled rooms while Flonase therapy.
