• Relenza (Zanamivir) is used in the treatment of uncomplicated acute illness caused by influenza virus in adults and children over 7 years who have been symptomatic no more than 2 days.

• Relenza inhibits the enzyme neuramidase, which may alter virus particle aggregation and release.

• Use Relenza cautiously in : chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or asthma, pregnancy, lactation, children under 12 years.

• Always check inside the mouthpiece of the Diskhaler before each use to make sure it's free of foreign objects.
• Exhale fully before putting the mouthpiece in your mouth; then, keeping the dry-powder inhaler level, close your lips around the mouthpiece and inhale steadily and deeply.Hold your breath for a few seconds after inhaling to help Relenza stay in the lungs.
• Report immediately worsening of respiratory symptoms, wheezing, shortness of breath and bronchospasm.
• Relenza (Zanamivir) isn't a substitute for a flu shot.You should receive anual flu shot according to immunization guidelines.
• Relenza doesn't reduce the risk of transmitting the influenza virus to others.
• Avoid hazardous activities if dizziness occurs.
• If you have a history of asthma you should know that is good to have a fast-acting inhaled bronchodilator avilable in case of bronchospasm following Relenza administration.If you're using bronchodilator and Relenza concurrently, administer bronchodilator first.
