Singulair (Montelukast Sodium) is contraindicated in : hypersensitivity, lactation.

Use Singulair cautiously in : acute atacks of asthma, phenylketonuria (Singulair chewable tablets contains aspartame), hepatic impairment, reduction of corticosteroid therapy, pregnancy, lactation or children under 1 year.

Singulair adverse reactions and side effects : |

Singulair side effects and adverse reactions can be : headache, asthenia, dizziness, fatigue, fever, dental pain, nasal congestion, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, infectious gastroenteritis, pyuria, cough, rash, systemic eosinophilia, influenza, trauma.

Singulair dosage : |
- Oral administration (adults and children over 14 years) : 10 mg of Singulair once daily.
- Oral administration (children from 6 to 14 years) : 5 mg once daily (as chewable tablet).
- Oral administration (children from 1 to 5 years) : 4 mg once daily (as chewable tablet or granules).

How to administer Singulair : |
- Doses of inhaled corticosteroids may be gradually decreased with supervision of health care expert; don't discontinue abruptly.
- For asthma, administer Singulair once daily in the evening.For allergic rhinitis, Singulair may be administered at any time of day.
- Administer Singulair granules directly into mouth or mixed in a spoonful of cold or room temperature foods (use only applesauce, mashed carrots, rice or ice cream).Don't open packet until you're ready to use it.After opening packet, administer full dose within 15 minutes.Don't store mixture and please discard unused portion.
- Do not dissolve granules in fluid, but you can take fluid after administration of Singulair.
- Singulair granules may be administered without regard to meals.

Take Singulair (Montelukast Sodium) daily in the evening, even if not experiencing symptoms of asthma.Don't double doses.Do not discontinue Singulair therapy without consulting health care professional.

Singulair is not used to treat acute asthma attacks, but may be continued during an acute exacerbation.You should carry rapid-acting therapy for bronchospasm at all times.

Notify health care professional if more than the maximum number of short-acting bronchodilator treatments prescribed for a 24 hours period are needed.

If you're sensitive to aspirin, avoid using aspirin and NSAIDs during Singulair therapy.

Check OTC medications, current prescription medications for ephedrine, which will increase stimulation; also avoid alcohol durin Singulair therapy.
