• Wellbutrin (Bupropion Hydrochloride) is used in the treatment of depression (with pyschotherapy).

• Wellbutrin decreases neuronal reuptake of dopamine in the central nervous system; diminished neuronal uptake of serotonin and norepinephrine (less than tricylic antidepressants).

• Absorption Absorption describes the process that follows drug administration and its subsequent delivery to systemic circulation. : although well absorbed, rapidly and extensively metabolized by the liver.
• Distribution Drug's distribution in body tissues and fluids. : unknown.
• Metabolism and excretion Important in determining dosage regimens and intervals for persons with hepatic or impaired renal function. : extensively metabolized by the liver; some conversion to active metabolites.
• Half life The half-life of a drug is the amount of time it takes the drug level to decrease by 50% and roughly correlates with the duration of action. : 14 hours.

• Wellbutrin (Bupropion HCL) is contraindicated in : persons hypersensitive to Wellbutrin, persons who have taken MAO inhibitors within previous 14 days, persons with seizure disorders or history of bulimia or anorexia nervosa because of a higher risk of seizures, persons abruptly stopping use of alcohol or sedatives (including benzodiazepines).
• Use Wellbutrin cautiously in persons with : recent history of myocardial infarction, unstable heart disease, renal or hepatic impairment, a history of seizures, head trauma, or other predisposition to seizures; and persons being treated with drugs that lower seizure threshold.

• Wellbutrin side effects and adverse reactions can be : abnormal dreams, insomnia, headache, sedation, tremor, agitation, dizziness, seizures, suicidial behavior, anxiety, confusion, delusions, euphoria, fever, hostility, impaired concentration, impaired sleep quality, akinesia, akathisia, fatigue, syncope, tachycardia, arrhythmias, hypertension, hypotension, palpitations, chest pain, blurred vision, rhinitis, auditory disturbances, epistaxis, pharyngitis, sinusitis, consipation, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, dry mouth, taste disturbance, dyspepsia, diarrhea, abdominal pain, impotence, menstrual complaints, urinary frequency, urine retention, increased appetite, weight loss, weight gain, arthritis, myalgia, arthralgia, muscle spasm or twitch, upper respiratory complaints, increase in coughing, excessive sweating, pruritus, rash, cutaneous temperature disturbance, urticaria, fever and chills, decreased libido and accidental injury.

• Take Wellbutrin (Bupropion Hydrochloride) exaclty as directed.
• Wellbutrin may impair judgment or motor and cognitive skills.Avoid driving and other activities requiring alertness until response to medication is known/
• Avoid alcohol during Wellbutrin therapy and consult health care professional before taking other medications with Wellbutrin.
• Unused shell of Wellbutrin XL tablets may appear in stool; this is normal.
• Women : inform health care professional if pregnancy is planned or suspected.
• Notify health care professional of Wellbutrin regimen before treatment or surgery.
• You MUST follow-up exams to monitor your progress and you SHOULD participate in pyschotherapy.
• Report immediately to your prescriber, mood swings or suicidal thoughts.
• Don't chew, crush or divide the tablets.
• Wellbutrin tablets may have an odor.
• Therapeutic effects may take 2 - 4 weeks; don't increase dose without prescriber's approval.
